What is the job of a Legal Assistant?
Legal Assistant assists Junior Paralegal or Senior Paralegal with all aspects of administrative tasks.
Core functions of the Legal Assistant include:
- Opens claims with liability carrier(s) and underinsured carrier(s)
- Assists in mailing client welcoming letters for Case Manager and Attorney within three (3) days of engagement
- Assists in the calculation of the available insurance coverage within thirty (30) days of engagement
- Assists with mailing notifications to health insurance carrier, Medicaid and Medicare
- Assists with entering file into Case management software consistently
- Receives mail and scanning of all case documents into Case management software
- Send mail
- Files mail
- Calendars appointments
- Assists in mailing requests for medical records and bills
- Follows up on medical records and bills request
- Assists in gathering other evidence
- Assists with coping, mailing and scanning of demand package
- Assists in documenting case expenses
- Closes files
- Reports to the Junior Paralegal or Senior Paralegal
