Failed to stop
The client was a passenger in a vehicle stopped at a red light on the intersection of Windy Hill Rd and I-75. The defendant was going to quickly and failed to stop , colliding with another car that then collided with our client. As a result, the client suffered injuries to the neck, upper spine, and shoulders.
We originally thought the client was a resident relative of the driver and had her getting treatment in line with the total UIM coverage. On further inspection, we found out she wasn't and had to cut off treatment so we wouldn't go further over limits than we already had. The lesson learned was to always confirm resident relative instead of assuming.
